CREDITS

Credits and notices.

The planet shown on the front page, parts of how it is drawn, and the data behind the documentation's examples come from other people's work. Their licences and attributions are here in full.

The planet

The planet shown on the front page and in the example plates was generated in Gleba, with its climate simulated in World Climate Lab. Gleba is used with its developer's permission.

Dayside synthesised the fine terrain detail and rendered the colour. The planet itself, its continents and its climate are the work of those tools.

Terrain model

Section terrain synthesis at 90 m and 30 m uses terrain-diffusion by Alexander Goslin, and its 30 m and 90 m model weights. The source and both model cards are MIT licensed. Paper: Alexander Goslin (2026), InfiniteDiffusion: Bridging Learned Fidelity and Procedural Utility for Open-World Terrain Generation, SIGGRAPH Conference Papers '26.

Night lights

Night-light patterns derived from NASA Black Marble 2016 (Credit: NASA). Not endorsed by NASA.

Where the lights fall on the planet comes from its own settlement model. Black Marble supplies the look of the patterns only.

Settlement model

The settlement scenario was fitted to the datasets below. Dayside derived curves, coefficients and per-person totals from them and redistributes none of their data. The data providers do not endorse Dayside.

Atmosphere

The globe's sky, haze and twilight use Eric Bruneton's precomputed atmospheric scattering, through the WebGL2 port in jeantimex/precomputed_atmospheric_scattering. The shader library and the precomputed Earth lookup tables both come from that port, the same ones the Dayside app uses. The port is MIT licensed. The underlying implementation and shader code are BSD-3-Clause, and its copyright notice is also kept inside the shader source this site serves.
